Blackberry Farm Getaway

If you are looking for a luxury getaway within the continental US, stop looking. This is your place. Over 4,000 acres of amazingly beautiful land make up this working farm and resort. The tip-top amenities pale in comparison to the staff that bend over backwards to make your stay better than you could have possibly imagined. The price tag is high, but includes all meals…we’ll get to that later. While pricey, it is a splurge that is absolutely worth it!

What to do — Grab a book and head to the lodge for a cozy fireside read, book a horseback riding excursion with breathtaking views, take a guided fly fishing trip whether you are a new or experienced fisherman, jump on a golf cart and explore the property, take a hike up the mountain on trails that suit your difficulty level, and even venture over to neighboring Great Smoky Mountains National Park, relax in the pool or hot tub, hit the gym for a pre-meal workout, browse the 2 on-site shops, the possibilities are endless!

The food at the Farm’s two restaurants is second to none. Every dish at every meal is just incredible. The Dogwood is the more casual restaurant. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served here. Breakfast is always a highlight with amazing egg dishes, griddle cakes, and breakfast meats. The coffees are a favorite of mine as well. Lunch always has great options to either indulge or go a bit lighter. Plus, there is an option to grab a boxed lunch if you will be out and about. Dinner is 3 courses and every meal I’ve had has been delicious. Anything with farm eggs is a must-have and the grilled shrimp are a favorite of mine.

The Barn is dinner only, very elegant, and absolutely spectacular! I am usually not a fancy food/fine dining kind of girl, but I make an exception for the Barn. The ambiance is amazing as the restaurant is set in a barn from the 1800s. The food toes the line between modern and classic. I love the “chef’s treats” that come before the meal! Every dish is exciting and could easily be the best chicken/pork/fish/beef you’ve had in your life. The Barn also houses the second largest wine cellar in the US, so a tour is an absolute must!

We have been to Blackberry Farm twice now---February 2020 and January 2021. Both times the majority of guests were couples but there were also small groups of friends and girls’ trips. This is also the best time of the year for savings. They usually have a rate sale on or around Black Friday, so keep an eye out for that!

After chatting with the staff, it seems that the resort is kid-friendly but I would venture to say it is better for kids in the summer. Go now or go later, but just go…you won’t regret it.
