What I Read in March

Another month, another four books!!! Yay!

I started the month by checking another one of Josie Silver’s books off my list as she never disappoints. One Night on the Island was great but (SPOILER ALERT) it was not one night on the island. Not even one week on the island. Not even one month on the island! Very misleading title but I loved the book nonetheless. Cleo Wilder is a dating columnist that writes about her attempts at “finding her flamingo”. Her 30th birthday is approaching and as she is yet to find that flamingo, her editor sends her to a remote island to self couple. Cleo is to stay in the one visitor accommodation that the island has to offer…Otter Lodge. Upon her arrival, she discovers that the lodge has been double booked and photographer Mack Sullivan also intends to occupy the lodge for the foreseeable future. Both Cleo and Mack believe that the lodge is rightfully theirs and neither plans to give up their time on the island. Either way, the boat to and from the island only comes once a week so they are stuck there together for a week at minimum. Ahhh! I really loved both Cleo and Mack as well as the entire quirky community of Salvation Island. I also loved how proud Mack was to be a father and how Cleo learned to embrace who she is as an individual. I recommend this one 100%!

Next I grabbed one of my Book of the Month subscription books from my TBR pile and I just loved it so much that I had to give The Unsinkable Gretta James it’s own post. If you give this book a read, please let me know if it hit you the same way it did me. Read my post HERE.

Then I read the March Sarah Finds a Deal book club pick, Somebody’s Daughter, a memoir by Ashley C. Ford. Read all about it and check out the group chat HERE.

I ended the month with a sequel to a book I read in January—- It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey. It was a fun and easy read, so when I saw that Hook, Line and Sinker was released this month, I scooped it up and read it right away. It Happened One Summer was focused on Piper whereas Hook, Line and Sinker is about her sister, Hannah. It opens with a stream of text messages between Hannah and Fox that they have kept up in the months since Hannah went back to California. Hannah is still pining for her boss, Sergio, who is a movie director; and Fox is known by all as the ladies’ man of all ladies’ men. Hannah is missing her sister and comes up with a very convincing pitch to film the movie in Westport (where Piper AND Fox live). When Hannah calls to tell Piper that she will be in town for a few weeks while filming, Piper is ecstatic but breaks the news that Hannah cannot stay with her while she is in town because her fiancé’s parents will also be in town at that time. Where does that leave Hannah???? Knocking on Fox’s door for a place to crash, of course!!! This is a fun read with lots of musical references per Hannah’s occupation. You’ll fly through it.

What are you reading now? Have you read any of these? What should I read next? Sound off in comments!!!
